DIS/ORGANIZED PLEASURES: Changing bodies, rights and cultures

Abstracts must be received by February 28th, 2007

The International Association for the Study of Sexuality and Culture in Society, invites academics, activists and all persons interested in sexuality and human rights to submit abstracts for its 6th Conference to be held in Lima, Peru, between 27 -29 June, 2007. The conference host is Cayetano Heredia University.

This year the Conference will focus on sexual movements in a changing world, where bodies, cultures and even the concept of ?rights? are evolving. Conference thematic areas include:  Bodies/Pleasure and Wellbeing, Sexual Rights and Mobilization, Sexual Cultures, and Globalization, Poverty and Sexuality.

Immediately after the Conference there will be a two week post-conference training on
sexuality. A limited number of scholarships for the conference as well as fellowships for the post-conference will be awarded to persons from less developed countries.
IASSCS is an international association founded in 1997 to promote the study of sexual
identity, desire and experience in specific social and cultural contexts and facilitate communication about scholarly as well as
research and training possibilities between colleagues around the globe.

Through its Conferences IASSCS tries in particular to bring together scholars and activists in sexual rights from all countries to exchange experiences about research and mobilization in the defense of sexual rights, and promote good quality sexuality research in the countries of the South, by stimulating young researchers and by
building research capacity in specific universities or centres for research.
